OUR STORY
Mawson’s Huts Historic Site contains the remains of the base established at Cape Denison, Antarctica, in 1912–1913 by Sir Douglas Mawson’s Australasian Antarctic Expedition (including two intact timber huts and two huts that are now standing ruins). The Minister for the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts and the Australian Antarctic Division of the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts have made a management plan for 2007–2012, to protect and manage the site’s Commonwealth Heritage and National Heritage values.
